Baby Comparison Pictures

Somehow I didn't notice how much Julie resembled my baby pictures until she got her haircut. Here are some samples for you:

Me as a baby.

Julie.

Me again.

Julie.

At least I know she wasn't switched in the hospital!

Julie's First Haircut

You can scroll down for before pictures. She looks much neater now! She was not well-behaved at all, it took two of us to hold her still while our friend cut her hair. The end results are worth it though. It is nice not to be constantly brushing it and trying to get her to keep the bows in.

Suddenly she looks just like I did as a toddler!

Snow!

This is how Maximus Amuttheis acts when it snows. In case you can't tell, his greyhound side comes out and he races around like a lunatic. This is the best my camera could do to catch up with him.

Z loved the snow so much that I finally took the baby inside and watched him from the backdoor. I couldn't get him to come in.

Ignore the non-matching mittens. :)

Julie had her 1 year check up today.

She is:

15 lbs, 12 oz (Nowhere near the chart)
29 inches (50th %)
17.5 inch head circumference (25th %)

She grew an inch and a half in a month. I think something was wrong with the measurement, but she is definately long and skinny.

She also gained 14 ounces, which is great for her, and will actually get her back on the growth charts eventually if she kept it up.

Cute Roaring Noises and Dancing

Roar!

Z dances to Ok Go - Here it goes again.

Yes, They're Both Mine

Julie at 11 months.

Zachary at 10 months.

In case you can't tell, these kids are related. ;) Genetics are funny sometimes.

The Face of Evil

The girl has learned to remove the cute bows from her hair, the ones that keep her hair out of her eyes. I am in so much trouble with this kid!

I see you!

I got a set of wireless security cameras yesterday, so I could figure out what it is that Julie does in her crib all day. She takes two three hour naps still but I suspected she was really awake a lot of that time.

It turns out I was right. I watched her on my computer screen for over two hours this afternoon, as she happily babbled and plotted her escape from the crib of doom. It was better than real TV. She spent a lot of time trying to hook her foot over the top of the bar. She also threw her blankets on the floor, and then spent a happy 30 minutes laying on her back with her feet straight up in the air.

So, it turns out the girl likes her alone time. No big brother to steal her toys, no one trying to make her learn to walk or talk, or touch her nose or any of those annoying things. Just Julie and her blankies. And this all makes me happy.

All better now!

Zachary is now well enough to steal my camera and take his own picture. Somehow the peevish princess did not catch the virus. I think it may have been something she was vaccinated against. Either that or the 10+ months of breastfeeding made her super human. Either way, I wish I was so lucky!

Poor Poor Zachary

Zachary earned his first two stitches the other day. He fell off of the Leapfrog table (he was just sitting on it) and hit his face on his toy fire department. It wasn't the worst cut ever, but it was pretty deep and right by his eye, so Jeremy took him up to the ER in the ambulance (he was on duty and happened to be in the area with the rig when I called him). Z loved it so much he insisted on being brought home by ambulance as well.

We have all been suffering from a nasty sinus thing all week. Today Z upped the ante by coming down with a stomach virus. He has thrown up several times already.

He is very pitiful right now...stitches on his face, black eye, runny nose, and throwing up. Poor little bunny.

11 Month Pictures

At 11 months we finally have teeth!

Still Tiny, but growing!

Well, ignoring that doctor and doing my own thing seems to be working!

Julie is up to 14 lbs, 13 ounces, and 27 1/2 inches at 11 months.

Still ridiculously small, but she grew half and inch and half a pound, which is slow but steady growth. The doctor said she is petite, but he isn't worried about her growth pattern anymore. I think it helps that as of 4 days ago she is completely on formula (from a sippy cup) so I was able to tell him exactly how much she drinks and eats. He was just fine with her eating real people food of course.

So, hopefully this is the end of weight checks and doctors hassling me. She still has to go back in a month of course, for her 12 month check-up and shots.
